How to use your Windows 7 Password Reset Disk

The easiest way to recover from a lost password situation in Windows 7 is to use a Windows 7 Password Reset Disk. If you haven't created one then visit our Windows 7 Password Reset page.

OK, so you have the Windows 7 Password Reset Disk and need to know how to use it.

At the Windows logon screen, click Reset password.

Insert the recovery diskette or USB key.

Follow the instructions on-screen to create a new password.

Log onto the account using your new password.

Windows 7 Password reset disks are valid for the account they were created on. If you use a password reset disk to recover your password, you do not need to create a new reset disk afterwards.
