How to block an email address
How many times do you receive an email from an address and you just delete it. It may be as simple as just unsubscribing from the mailing list. However, sometimes you may just want to block the email address so it doesn't end up in your Inbox.
The following will give you basic instructions on how to block email addresses in Outlook Express.
- Open Outlook Express - From your Inbox, highlight a message from the person you want to block - Select Message | Block Sender... from the menu. - Click Yes to have all existing messages from the blocked sender deleted from the current folder.
Outlook Express automatically adds the sender's address to the list of blocked senders. Note that this only works with POP accounts, though. Messages from blocked senders in IMAP or Hotmail accounts will not be move to the Trash folder automatically.
It is also possible to block whole domains as well: - Open Outlook Express - Select Tools | Message Rules | Blocked Senders List... from the menu in Outlook Express. - Click Add.... - Type the domain you want to block. - Finally, click OK.
Please note: This is not a effective solution for clearing Spam. Spammers generally use random email addresses in the send field.
